About the Speaker
Dr Nick York is a consultant ophthalmologist with particular expertise in glaucoma surgery and the management of complex glaucoma. He currently heads the Glaucoma and Cornea services at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he provides specialist care for patients across the spectrum of glaucoma - from early disease requiring eye drops, laser or minimally invasive surgery through to advanced and complex glaucoma requiring filtering or drainage surgery.
His glaucoma practice encompasses medical and laser treatment as well as modern surgical approaches including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), minimally invasive bleb surgery (MIBS), trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage implants. This breadth of experience gives him a particular interest in tailoring the level of surgical intervention to the individual patient - balancing safety, recovery and the degree of intraocular pressure lowering required to protect vision over a patient's lifetime.
